New Zealand has adjusted its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates, reducing the warning level from Level 3 to Level 2, which advises travelers to exercise increased caution. This change allows New Zealanders to travel to or transit through the UAE, while urging them to remain vigilant and follow local safety instructions due to potential changes in security conditions.
Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed approval of the updated guidance, highlighting that travelers can now more freely visit or pass through the UAE. This adjustment comes as a boost to the UAE’s efforts to rejuvenate its international tourism sector, which has been affected by regional conflicts.
Recent statistics indicate a positive trend in the UAE’s tourism recovery. Dubai, a key player in the region’s tourism industry, recorded 869,000 international overnight visitors in August, the highest monthly figure since February. Hotel occupancy rates in Dubai also saw a significant rise, reaching 66 percent in August, up from 36 percent in March.
The UAE is actively seeking the removal of travel warnings from other nations to further enhance its tourism and aviation sectors. While several countries have relaxed their advisories, some still recommend increased caution or continue to advise against non-essential travel.
The easing of New Zealand’s travel advisory is anticipated to encourage travel demand between the two countries, supporting the ongoing recovery of the UAE’s tourism industry.
