Coldplay’s Chris Martin has clarified his earlier remarks about Toronto’s Rogers Stadium, emphasizing that he holds no ill will towards the newly built venue. His initial Monday comments, where he thanked fans for making the journey to this weird stadium in the middle of nowhere, had raised some eyebrows.
On Friday, during the third of four Coldplay concerts at the stadium, Martin took the opportunity to address the misunderstanding directly. He asserted that he had never criticized this stadium, and that his intention was solely to acknowledge the considerable effort fans made to attend the show at its outskirts location. He expressed genuine appreciation for the facility.
The 50,000-capacity stadium has been working to iron out initial operational kinks since its opening, particularly concerning crowd management and post-event departures. Rogers spokesman Zac Carreiro and Live Nation Canada have confirmed ongoing improvements aimed at enhancing the attendee experience, including better crowd flow and reduced traffic.
These improvements are expected to benefit future events, with K-Pop group Blackpink scheduled to perform two shows on July 22 and 23, demonstrating the stadium’s commitment to continuous operational refinement.
